Hiring a GREAT DJ
Imagine a DJ that wants to do a toast, but the champagne isn't poured for the guest and the Groom is in the back smoking cigars with his groomsmen.
Imagine a DJ that plays music you don't want to hear.
What if the DJ shows up late or the equipment isn't of professional quality and fails during the first dance?
Ask what type of speakers they're using. Powered? Brand name? Age?
Make sure your DJ utilizes top quality equipment. After 10 years of experience I've been updating my equipment and music library. So with over 70,000 songs, I have a pretty good idea of which songs work and which ones don't. Of course, it's your wedding, so what ever you want to hear is what you'll get. I've had couples that wanted to hear everything from Beethoven to ZZ Top. I have a acronym I call A.A. It's called Audience Analysis. I scan the audience the whole time and see what is working and what isn't. You'll want a DJ that has the ego to play what the crowd wants, not what they want to play. Have one that takes request. If it's a song you absolutely don't want to hear, make sure the DJ knows that. I've actually had a contract that stated if I played the Macarena, then my clients wouldn't have to pay me. A good DJ will ask these questions. What if the song is requested by the guest? By the Groom's Mother???
Also a great DJ will almost be a wedding planner. They will coordinate the events and communicate with the photographer, banquet manager and others involved to ensure a smooth entertainment experience. So please call me to set up a no obligation appointment that is convenient to meet and we can discuss your event further.
Best Regards,
Ryan
